Mariel Arandia
Argentine (39). Founder of Defensa once once. Lived 5 years in Switzerland and one in Germany. Has worked as Spanish teacher and in several tourist offices and agencies. Speaks Spanish, German, Italian and English knowledge’s. Graduated as Superior Tourist Operator and National Guide in 2004. Studied 4 years of Psychology at the University of Buenos Aires. Since 1993 she pioneered the first Tango Guest-House in San Telmo - Buenos Aires, a product of her love for tango, the dance and the culture.
Besides attending her guests’ needs, she has undertaken other projects for Tango lovers. In 2000-01, together with her husband Chris Krüger and her brother Alejandro Arandia, she opened Cafe Cultural Sans Souci, whose main achievement was the organization of the Young Tango 2000 event, with the participation of Vale Tango, Quintito Gotanova, Duo Analía Goldberg and Paulina Fain, La Fija, Los Severinos, Dúo Amanecer, among others.
Since 2004 she has been partner and organizer of the Buenos Aires Tango programs called "8 días x semana": www.buenosairestangoweek.com
In March 2006, together with Omar Viola (from Milonga Parakultural), she planned and produced the first SEASIDE TANGO event, held at a beach resort on the Argentine Atlantic Coast whose second edition was on March 4-8, 2007: www.marytango.com.ar
In her free time she likes to dance, most especially tango, to read, to travel and to cook.
Chris Krüger
German architect (35), another tango lover, first visited Buenos Aires in 1995 under the spell of his budding passion for tango and has lived here since 1998. Speaks German, Spanish and English. Besides his architectural work, he collaborates in running the guest house.
He likes to dance tango too, and enjoys sports, the outdoors, literature, good food and drink. |
